Pride month fills June with colour, joy, music and love. It's a great opportunity for all ages to show their support the LGBTQ+ community. We have five ideas for how you can celebrate Pride month with kids, including events, crafts and - of course - music!
Check out your council’s website and social media accounts as every council hosts a variety of activities and events during Pride month – with many created specifically for kids!
Head to London for the big event – the annual Pride parade brings a joyful, colourful celebration to the city streets – it’s a sensory sensation that kids will be amazed by.
See hundreds of floats and groups including LGBTQ+ community organizations, businesses, and partners, with 35,000 participants marching in solidarity.
On the day there is a diverse range of entertainers performing on various stages around Central London – all free to watch!
There will also be a Family & Youth Area at Pride in London, featuring free fun activities and performances suitable for all ages.

Most libraries and book shops organise Pride month books displays and some hold story times, workshops and events as well based around Pride.

It’s time to get out all the coulour! The most recognisable symbol of Pride month is a rainbow and you can show your support by splashing these colours out in many ways. This can be as simple as using colourful chunky chalk to draw rainbows (the most recognisable symbol of Pride month) on pavement outside your house!
Or try creating rainbow bunting to hang around the front door, baking heart shaped cakes and cookies, or painting rainbows and Pride Month posters to hang in the window. Put on your rainbow colours, breakout your instruments and have a dance party at home. Or create your own playlist together with the kids of songs by LGBTQ+ performers and songs that speak about the freedom to be yourself.
