Award winning musical experiences for children aged 4-11

Recommended listening – Christmas Edition!

Listening to music is not only enjoyable but is also beneficial in developing many skills including coordination and self-confidence that will continue to be useful for your child throughout their lives.

Every month, we are here to help you inspire your child with some season-appropriate classical pieces.

This month, The Strings Club Head Office team has gathered for you the a selection of the best festive pieces of music alongside some fun facts and links to YouTube and Spotify to get us all in the mood for the mood for Christmas!

The Nutcracker

Did you know that despite it’s huge fame now, the original ballet was a commercial flop?! But Tchaikovsky’s 20 minute ‘suite’ extracted from The Nutcracker was, and always has been, hugely popular, and it has become one of his most famous compositions. Have a listen to the Waltz of the Flowers on Spotify or on YouTube.

Carol of the Bells

This Christmas classic might ring a lot of bells for all you listeners. Is that because you are a Home Alone fan or a Metallica fan?! Composed by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych with lyrics from Peter J. Wilhousky, this song was originally a Ukranian folk chant but enjoys huge popularity appearing on films, TV shows and of course at major metal gigs across the world! Have a listen on Spotify and on YouTube.

Winter Wonderland

As if you weren’t feeling Christmassy enough already, here comes a giant of a Christmas tune. Written in 1934 Bernard (music) and. Smith (lyricist), it has been recorded by over 200 different artists. But we’re quite partial to the King of Cool, Dean Martin’s own rendition (with it being so cold out there it is probably more fitting too!). Have a listen on Spotify and on YouTube.
