5 Fun Things to do in London This Summer With Kids
Looking for the best things to do in London with kids this summer? Whether your children love outdoor adventures, creative activities, fascinating museums or magical theatre experiences, London has plenty of exciting family days out during the summer holidays.
From beach-style fun in the city to hidden caves, puppet shows and interactive museums, we’ve rounded up some of the best kids activities in London for summer 2026.
1) Costa Del Croydon – Centrale Shopping Centre, 1–31 August 2026
Missing the seaside this summer? Costa Del Croydon is bringing the beach atmosphere to the heart of London, giving families the chance to enjoy some summer fun without travelling far.
Equipped with paddling pools, kid-friendly workshops, rides, and treats, it rivals the Brighton Beaches for a sunny, sandy day out, and all within a reasonable distance from many of our Camp venues!
2) Three Little Wolves, Puppet Theatre Barge, Richmond , 17th August-27th September
One of the most unique puppet houses in the country, where better to see an original children’s puppet show than on a barge in Richmond?
Featuring three cute wolves, as well as lions, eels, pigeons, and mice, this travelling puppet show is not one to miss! And to the sea-sick among you, don’t worry! The barge is moored for its entire residency, so no sea legs required!
3) Horniman Museum and Gardens - Dulwich, Multiple Dates
The Horniman has everything for families - its free entry to the Horniman museum and gardens which alone are beautiful. There is a small fee for the aquarium and butterfly house, but both are well worth the cost with some of the most weird and wonderful creatures around!
The Horniman is conveniently located very near our Dulwich camp for any of you with children attending there, and they are running some great local music events from acts such as the Brixton Chamber Orchestra and Wayne Tucker and the Bad Mothas.
4) Chislehurst Caves - Chislehurst, Multiple Dates
London has caves?! Its weird to think about in our sprawling capital, but Chislehurst caves are a must see, and will be a welcome break from the blistering heatwaves battering the country.
With plenty of history from the Saxons, WWI and II, and the secret discos of the 60s and 70s, Chislehurst will be a refreshing, informative, and beautiful place to visit that is a far cry from London’s usual tourist attractions.
5) Discover Children’s Story Centre - Stratford, Multiple Dates
Having recently reopened its doors, Discover is the perfect place to let your kids roam in these storybook settings brought to life!
There is a variety of spaces to let their imaginations run wild, and that's before you even explore Discover's fantastic programme of events. From accessible and inclusive morning sessions for children with additional support needs, to hands-on LEGO activities, there's certainly no shortage of things to do.
