Our Safeguarding Principles

We believe that:
  • Children and young people should never experience abuse of any kind.

  • We have a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and keep them safe.

We recognise that:
  • The welfare of the child is paramount in all decisions and actions.

  • Effective partnership working with children, parents, carers and other agencies is essential.

  • All children — regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation — have an equal right to protection.

  • Some children may be more vulnerable due to previous experiences, communication needs, additional needs or other factors.

  • Additional safeguards may be required to protect children who are particularly vulnerable.

How We Keep Children Safe

We safeguard children and young people by:

  • Valuing, listening to and respecting them

  • Appointing Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), Deputy DSLs and a Lead Trustee for safeguarding

  • Embedding safeguarding best practice across all policies and procedures

  • Delivering effective safeguarding and online safety training

  • Safely recruiting and vetting all staff and volunteers, including Enhanced DBS checks

  • Providing supervision, support and quality assurance for all team members

  • Recording, storing and sharing information securely in line with data protection legislation

  • Ensuring children and families know how to raise concerns

  • Acting promptly on concerns and making referrals where necessary

  • Managing allegations against staff appropriately and transparently

  • Maintaining effective complaints and whistleblowing procedures

  • Providing a safe physical environment in accordance with health and safety legislation

  • Promoting a safeguarding culture of respect, vigilance and accountability
