#TipTuesday – Activities to do at home this October Half Term

As parents ourselves we know how wonderful it is to spend quality time with your children!

We also know it’s tricky sometimes to think of ideas and activities to do every minute of the day and that’s why we have created some top tips below on some fun activities to do with your child this October Half Term.

Many of our activities below are taken from our Holiday Camp workshops that take place every afternoon. All aimed to inspire your child right up until pick up time!

Diwali Celebrations

Why not make a Rangoli collage? During Diwali, Hindus draw bright Rangoli patterns on the floor by the front door to encourage the goddess Lakshmi to enter their homes. They are traditionally drawn using rice grains, flour, sand or chalk. Rangoli designs are usually taken from nature. Download a PDF that you can print here.

Vivaldi

Did you know Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi hated the summer as he had chronic hayfever and could not even leave his house? Listen to The Four Seasons on see if you can hear the difference in summer and autumn (when Vivaldi could get out in the fresh air). Download some fun facts about the composer here.

Why not make an autumn poster with your child using our Autumn checklist here? Print a copy of this off and head to your garden/nearest park and find the objects. This is lots of fun for both children and adults! Download your Autumn checklist here.

Day of the Dead

In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle. Mexicans view it not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration because their loved ones awake and celebrate with them. Why not download our factsheet here  alongside our word mat here? For older children we also have a wordsearch to keep them occupied – download here.

Check out our Top 5 Spooktacular songs to listen to

Every Monday we will be sharing with you our Recommended Listening – 5 tracks that we love at our Head Office and each one aiming to inspire you and your child. As it’s Halloween coming up we’ve come up with a few “‘spooktakular” pieces to get you in the mood. To make it easy for you to find these pieces, we have added links to Youtube and Spotify too alongside a few fun facts too!
