We love Music Medals!
We’re incredibly proud to be partners with this fantastic award scheme established and run by the prestigious Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).
It is the ideal accompaniment to our Term Time Courses on ukulele, violin and guitar – they are the perfect way for your child to be rewarded for all of the hard work they’ve put into learning their chosen instrument.
Whereas typically it might take much longer than a year for a beginner to reach the standard to enter for Grade 1, through our help and guidance your child will work towards and achieve a Music Medal every Summer Term. Being able to work towards something and be rewarded each year really instils a wonderful sense of achievement and progression for children and is a great source of pride.
Unlike the sometimes intimidating and formalised setting of a Grade exam, Music Medals assessments are based at our Strings Club venues, an environment your child will know well and be comfortable in, helping to offer the best opportunity for your child to achieve.
Each Music Medal incorporates:
- an ensemble-based piece,
- a solo piece
- a short musicianship test
Starting with Copper and moving up progressively to a Platinum (equivalent to GCSE A* and ABRSM Grade 4 standard), Music Medals honour and celebrate the skills your child has learnt.
Last summer we had record numbers of children achieving incredible results in Music Medals. Real stars! In the next few weeks children on our Term Time Courses will be taking their Music Medals and we are looking forward to celebrating their success with you again soon.
Here in The Strings Club office we are busy getting ready to launch our Term Time Courses – weekly music lessons lovingly developed and specifically designed for beginners aged 4-11 – on Saturday 29th of September.
We run our Term Time Courses because we know from experience that engaging in music has a powerful impact on a child’s life, everything from developing skills, building confidence and boosting educational attainment.
