#MusicMondays – Your child can #LearnToPlay ukulele online

Learning to play an instrument is great fun. It’s exciting. It’s rewarding and inspiring. There is nothing like it!

However, many dusty instruments sat in bedrooms and attics will also bear testament that sometimes it can be tricky to master.

There are lots of things which need to be in place to ensure it goes well. It requires a supportive and positive learning environment to ensure all the energy from the student is nurtured and well directed.

WE’RE HERE TO HELP

Does your child show in interest in learning an instrument? Take a look at our YouTube channel, it’s a fun introduction to ukulele, guitar, violin and cello.

First up, here’s an introduction to the ukulele with the lovely Russ

It’s time to Celebrate! Christmas is nearly here!

#ThrowbackThursdays

This week in our #ThrowbackThursday, we go back to June this year when The Strings Club launched in Hackney!

Our Franchise in Hackney is run by the wonderful Edouard!

As a dad of two, Edouard was looking for an opportunity to combine his business skills with his passion for music and childcare – and has never looked back!

Previously, Edouard had worked for The Strings Club for four years as a Holiday Camp Manager at one of our busy Holiday Camps in South East London. Having enjoyed his role so much with us, he decided to join us in his own neighbourhood in London.

Since the very first Discovery Day, The Strings Club Hackney has grown from strength to strength and is now preparing to run its third set of Holiday Camps in February 2020!

Rated 5* by parents on Netmums, our award winning Ofsted registered Holiday Camps bring  together the very best of music education and childcare to engage and inspire your child – every school holiday. Each day is wonderfully different, including a range of exciting workshops alongside high quality small group classes. If you wish to book for February, you can so here.

Say goodbye to 9-5, hello flexible working!

As parents we know how hard it is to fit everything into your day. One minute you’re in ‘parent mode’ trying to get breakfast ready. Next you’re pitching an idea to your team at work. We also know full well that trying to be granted flexible working at your workplace is super hard to do as unfortunately many companies are still living in the dark ages.

Running your own business with us offers you that flexible lifestyle that you want and deserve – right from the offset. You can choose your own hours. So whether it’s when the kids are at school or in the evening, you can choose when to work.

Many people ask us if they have to work at the programmes themselves – and we say it’s up to you. Some of our franchisees want to work as a Holiday Camp Manager, however others prefer to run their business from an operational model. Either way, you can be rest assured that with your pre set-up training, your ongoing support and use of our exclusive Operational Calendar that tells you each week what you should be doing – your business will be a huge success from the offset!

Recommended listening – Christmas!

Listening to music is not only enjoyable but is also beneficial in developing many skills including coordination and self-confidence that will continue to be useful for your child throughout their lives.

This month, The Strings Club Head Office team has gathered for you the a selection of the best festive pieces of music alongside some fun facts and links to YouTube and Spotify to get us all in the mood for the mood for Christmas!

Oh I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day

As we had the joy of meeting of meeting Wizzard frontman Roy Wood last week, we couldn’t have created our Christmas “Recommended Listening” without such an epic song! Have a watch of the 70s classic track here.

Have a read of our latest blog here – When The Strings Club met Roy Wood

The Nutcracker

Did you know that despite it’s huge fame now, the original ballet was a commercial flop?! But Tchaikovsky’s 20 minute ‘suite’ extracted from The Nutcracker was, and always has been, hugely popular, and it has become one of his most famous compositions. Have a listen to the Waltz of the Flowers on Spotify or on YouTube.

Carol of the Bells

This Christmas classic might ring a lot of bells for all you listeners. Is that because you are a Home Alone fan or a Metallica fan?! Composed by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych with lyrics from Peter J. Wilhousky, this song was originally a Ukranian folk chant but enjoys huge popularity appearing on films, TV shows and of course at major metal gigs across the world! Have a listen on Spotify and on YouTube.

Winter Wonderland

As if you weren’t feeling Christmassy enough already, here comes a giant of a Christmas tune. Written in 1934 Bernard (music) and. Smith (lyricist), it has been recorded by over 200 different artists. But we’re quite partial to the King of Cool, Dean Martin’s own rendition (with it being so cold out there it is probably more fitting too!). Have a listen on Spotify and on YouTube.

How our Holiday Camps aid your child’s personal, social and emotional development

What enables our award-winning Holiday Camps to stand proudly apart from other childcare providers is our passion and dedication in promoting the learning and development of all children in our care.

As part of our new #SaturdayCelebrations, today we will focus on one part of our “Four Key Areas of Development” – personal, social and emotional development.

From our Holiday Camp Managers and Assistants to our Course Leaders, each member of our outstanding team reflects our commitment towards effective teaching and learning methods that will enable your child to truly reach their potential. Alongside Ofsted, we also believe that the three characteristics of effective teaching and learning are:
● playing and exploring – children investigate things, experience things, and ‘have a go’
● active learning – children concentrate, keep on trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements
● creating and thinking critically – children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas, and develop strategies for doing things

Take a look at how The Strings Club encourages the development of your child’s personal, social and emotional skills:

  • Ability to form positive relationships with others  – during our morning instrumental lessons, our Course Leaders encourage all children to work together as a group.
  • Managing their behaviour – our workshops encourage children to learn about being respectful of others and their surroundings.
  • To develop self-awareness – children will listen to a range of music and are encourage to think of how it makes them feel personally.

Free music lesson for 4-11 year olds – music to the ears of Leamington Spa

The Strings Club is on a mission to inspire children through music. The multi award-winning music education company provided 30k+ opportunities for children to learn an instrument at high quality events in Birmingham and London in 2019, and now they are here in Leamington offering all children aged 4-11 a free music lesson at a special ‘Discovery Day’ in February 2020.

The area’s first taste of The Strings Club’s award-winning Discovery Day will bring music to life for everyone who attends. It is the perfect way to ignite your child’s passion for music and is available for all, from absolute beginners onwards.

The Discovery Day will be a wonderfully interactive introduction to stringed instruments, brought to life through a performance of popular singalong songs by professional musicians, before your very own budding Mini Maestro takes centre stage and experiences a 20 minute lesson on ukulele.

If you are interested in starting your child’s musical journey in 2020 then this is the event for you.

Taking place at Radford Semele Primary School on Saturday 15th of February 2020 from 11.30am to 12.30pm, places are limited, they are free of charge and available to all children aged 4-11.

To book, simply go to thestringsclub.org/book or call 0121 296 9204.

#Throwback Thursdays

It’s the time of the week again where we look back at some of the most important moments in The Strings Club history!

Back on November 16th 2017, business leaders, mentors and entrepreneurs gathered at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, where The Strings Club director, Amy Cunningham, won the coveted NatWest Great British Small Business Entrepreneur Award.

Founder of the NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Francesca James, said: “The winning entrepreneurs have made a huge impact on entrepreneurship in their region and the wider UK economy and we hope that winning an award will help give them the recognition they thoroughly deserve.”

At the time, director Amy Cunningham, stated “I am really honoured to have won this amazing award. Myself, my head office team plus everyone who works for The Strings Club have worked incredibly hard over the past 5 years – and to be recognised for this is wonderful”.

Since winning the award 2 years ago, The Strings Club has gone on to even bigger and better things – now operating in 8 different locations, being franchised and inspiring thousands of children every single year.
