Fantastic ukulele-making workshop!

Challenge: to make 65 ukuleles using only plastic butter tubs, fishing wire and pieces of plywood. Impossible, right? Wrong! 22-1

Our talented kids over at our Hampstead and Harborne summer camps this week have had great fun making some rather unconventional instruments! Back by popular demand, this workshop is always one of our most exciting and unique sessions.

Guided by Steve Nutter and Nick Penny, our happy campers spent the morning designing, creating and personalising their ukuleles, while the afternoon was dedicated to a grand playing session in which a whole host of funky songs were learnt. The day concluded with a fantastic concert which demonstrated their new ukulele skills.

A brilliant day was had by all!

Back to School Music Essentials!

We’ve had a great summer at our Holiday Camps, but now it’s time to head back to school!

Studies have proven that music supports brain development in young children, along with helping them to think creatively. Our group lessons also help children build team working and communication skills, as well as boosting self-esteem.

To help you inject a little bit of musical magic into the school day, we’ve discovered some brilliant stationery ideas from to pop into your little ones pencil cases!

From pens to activities books, you can make sure your child’s passion for music is seen by all the teachers and their friends at school!

3rd Birthday Celebrations!

Look how far we’ve come in three years! It’s hard to believe that we’ve accomplished so much since 2012, but we’ve had a fantastic journey!

The Strings Club has gone from strength to strength. Over the past 3 years, we’ve helped nearly 1,500 children discover a love for music either taking part in our award winning term-time courses or at our holiday camps.
This year’s highlights include the opening of a brand new summer camp in Balham, and our new term-time courses in Bournville, starting this September. There’s just no stopping us! And there’s much more to come this autumn and beyond to look forward to including a brand new website and – launching in the New Year – Strings Club tots for 3 year olds!
We’d like to say a massive THANK YOU to all the parents and super-talented children who supported and helped make The Strings Club the business we are today!
So to celebrate The Strings Club turning 3, next week’s summer camps will include a special afternoon birthday party full of fun and games, so you can celebrate with us.
There’s still time to book for next week at all locations: BrockleyHarborne and Hampstead.
And finally, keep your eyes peeled next week for our Big 3rd Birthday Competition on Facebook– with different prizes to be won daily!
Prizes include CBSO and Southbank Sinfonia tickets, back-to-school packs, Frozen sheet music, and maybe even a instrument or two!

Inspire with our recommended listening!

We really love music at The Strings Club HQ! So much so, our wonderful intern and Birmingham University Music student, Oliver Frost, has devised a cool list of some classical numbers to play for your child to really inspire them. You’ll find a few funky facets about the pieces too! orchestra_021

Simply click here to download your very own list of hand-picked musical goodies that will excite your child’s imagination and transport them into the magical world of orchestral and choral music.

The list is arranged chronologically too and accompanying each recommendation is a very short introduction, with suggestions of things to think about to help them get the most out of each piece.

If you have a favourite piece of music you’d like to share with us – visit our Facebook page here or click on the link below! We’d love to hear from you!

Watch out for our second round of recommended listening coming up soon! Happy Listening!
