The Strings Club was founded in 2012 by professional violinist and teacher, Amy Cunningham, with the aim to give primary school children an opportunity to discover and engage with music in a rewarding, enriching but most of all fun way.
The very first Strings Club took place in Camden, London with just 6 budding string players. It was a huge success and a parent at the end of the concert asked, “When is the next one?” The word had started to spread and since then, Amy has been devoted to creating inspiring musical experiences for children.
Prior to establishing The Strings Club, Amy had trained as a violinist at The University of Birmingham (BMus. Hons) and The University of London (MMus) and had performed amongst many known ensembles.
During her training, Amy also worked for numerous recognised music services as well as a classroom music teacher – of which she taught over 250 children per week – from aged 4 – 18.
As well as her blog, you can also sign up to receive her monthly e-newsletter, packed full of top tips on your child’s development, fun practice tips as well as suggested music games to play at home together. Sign up here.
